Matt Varnes: Hockey instructor and teacher.
Matt is a certified teacher in Winnipeg and instructor at Churchill Hockey Academy. Matt had a successful hockey career playing junior hockey in Winnipeg before playing professionally in Kemi, Finland and Knoxville, Tennessee. After playing, he continued to share his love for the game by coaching and developing young athletes. Matt has coached in a number of different programs including: both male and female high school hockey, Max Hockey and Bar Down Hockey Academy. He continues to develop and expand his knowledge of the game and will be training with Hockey Canada this summer. Matt graduated from the University of Winnipeg with a Bachelor of Physical Education along with an Education degree. HE is very excited to be a part of the Churchill Hockey Academy.
Keli Marnoch: Hockey instructor and teacher.
Keli is a certified teacher in Winnipeg and instructor at Churchill Hockey Academy. After ending his playing career in the MMJHL in 2009, Keli began coaching at the community level, progressing up to Bantam AAA. From 2012-2021, Keli was a Physical Education and Health teacher at Tec Voc High School, where he was the head instructor of the Tec Voc Hockey Academy. Keli has developed his coaching and teaching knowledge through the Hockey Canada Skills Academy Annual seminar in Calgary. Keli’s primary instruction with the Hockey Academy is in off-ice fitness and Physical Education/Health, while also leading some on-ice sessions throughout the year.
